How to clean and care for GAMADECORi bathroom and kitchen furniture?
We thank you and congratulate on choosing GamaDecor!
The kitchen and bathroom are the so-called wet rooms that are used frequently every day. Therefore, the furniture there must meet specific, advanced conditions. To make your bathroom and kitchen furniture maintain its high quality and serve you for long years, we use materials of top quality for manufacturing it and keep a close eye on all stages of the production process.
But what should you do to keep your kitchen looking fresh and picture perfect as long as possible?
Cleaning and maintenance tips
Should the kitchen/bathroom be cleaned constantly or at longer intervals but very thoroughly? We recommend to opt for the first method. Constant cleaning keeps dirt from attaching to/infiltrating into the surface and you do not need to use strong and abrasive detergents to remove it.
Gamadecor kitchen/bathroom furniture is quite easy to care for. The main rule: do not use violence - sharp instruments, rough scouring sponges, bleaches, nail polish remover, vinegar, citric acid, abrasive scouring powders, polishers, etc.
Naturally, different materials, textures, finishes, etc call for different products and methods of maintenance.
First of all, let us talk about regular day-to-day cleaning:
General advice
To remove dust, stains, fingerprints, spatter caused by cooking and smoke-fat vapour condensed on the surface of furniture, dissolve a small quantity of a mild detergent/soap in warm water. Wipe the surfaces-cupboards-drawers with a moist cloth and dry with a soft, dry cloth. All corners require special care.
In case of a slightest doubt that a detergent might damage the finish of an object, to discolour it, etc., we recommed to test it first on a more hidden surface, not on a cupboard door. Corrosive detergents (containing acids and alkali) may shorten the time metal accessories and sinks look good.
Do not leave taps dripping!
Do not place moist cloths and sponges into a cupboard or drawer to dry since constant moisture can, over time, leave its stamp even on the best materials.
Laminated surfaces
are the easiest to clean and do not call for any special instructions.
Wood and plywood surfaces
should be cleaned lightly with a moist cloth. Do not try to remove stubborn stains by too violent rubbing. Rub and dry along the wood pattern - in this way the wood surface will retain its natural beauty and genuine look.
Lacquered surfaces
should be cleaned daily with a soft suede, "Vileda" or sponge cloth. Suitable chemicals include window washing liquids.
Surfaces of stainless steel
There is a wide selection of commercially available products for cleaning metal facades, heating tiles, kitchen bundles, stoves, etc. Follow the manufacturer's instructions while using them! The instructions are usually given on the package, but you may always consult the seller of Gamadecor products.
Chrome-plated/nickel-plated handles
have been finished in a galvanic bath. They may be cleaned with the same products as laminated or wood surfaces. In the case of stubborn stains and scratches, car maintenance products may be resorted to.
Metal filters of kitchen bundles
Most contemporary kitchen bundles are equipped with a metal filter. They do not need to be replaced, but washed, for example, in a dish-washer. For a better cleaning result place them vertically into the washer. Generally, filters should be cleaned in every two weeks, but it naturally depends on the intensity of use. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations!
Glass surfaces
may be cleaned with the same products as windowpanes.
Base rooms
The front panels of the base of items of Gamadecor furniture are easy to remove for cleaning and to replace later.
Wooden and laminated work surfaces
Wooden work surfaces require constant maintenance to keep them waterproof. Gamadecor supplies work surfaces with a suitable detergent, please make sure to follow the instructions of use! If there is no maintenance product supplied with the work surface, contact the store where you bought your Gamadecor product! Laminated work surfaces do not require any special cleaning methods.
Neither wood nor laminate is resistant to high temperature and sharp objects. Thus, please use table mats and cutting boards made of wood, granite or a plastic material.
Quartz and glass agglomerate work surfaces (Trend „ Cristallino", Silestone'i type)
Acryllic resin work surfaces (Coriani type)
Work surfaces made of stainless steel
Granite work surfaces
While cleaning and caring for the abovementioned surfaces, you should follow the recommendations of the particular item.
Please consult the installer of the work surface or a seller of Gamadecor.
How to avoid moisture damage?
General advice:
Do not use a steam washer for cleaning cupboards and drawers! The steam produced under pressure penetrates into materials and may make them bulge out irreversibly. Make sure to remove the spatter of hot and cold drinks or liquid food immediately by wiping!
Sinks/sink cupboards
The manufacturer has provided them with a metal bottom, thus, making them leakproof. Make sure that siphon caps are closed tightly. When opening them for cleaning, place a water collection vessel underneath!
Dish washers
If you want to avoid damaging your cupboards, drawers and work surfaces with the water steam produced during the operation of a dish washer, be patient. Do not rush to open the door of the dish washer after the end of a work cycle, but let the inside of the washer cool down! Follow the manufacturer's recommendations!
Built-in (intergrated) refrigerator sections
To avoid a leakage of water while melting, the manufacturer has provided them with a metal bottom. We still recommend to keep an eye on the melting process (to check it for clogging).
Kitchen bundles
We definitely recommend to switch kitchen bundles on for the time you cook or just heat water. In this way, you can avoid deposition of fat particles and condensation of water in your kitchen.
Base panels
Aluminium base panels are entirely moistureproof. They may be cleaned with abundant water, but plywood panels should be cleaned like wood surfaces, i.e. a direct contact with water must be avoided.
Various joints, couplings and connections
need to be properly sealed at the assembly of furniture and installation of sinks to avoid moisture impregnation. Check their condition from time to time! Dry the work surfaces (especially laminated surfaces) thoroughly after use to avoid a potential build-up of moisture via the connections under the surface!
Internal climate
Wood as a natural material reacts to variations in temperature and atmospheric humidity by expansion and contraction. It would be ideal to maintain the atmospheric humidity at a constant level of 55-70% and the temperature in the range of 18-22°C.
If the air is too dry, use an air humidifier or place an open (uncovered) water vessel by the central heating radiator in your kitchen.
In new buildings the humidity is often too high, exceeding 70%. In such a case, good ventilation is needed. Atmospheric humidity and the methods of its regulation depend largely on your location, whether you live by sea or inland.
Yet another tip for keeping your kitchen looking pretty for a long time: avoid the exposure of wood surfaces to direct sunshine! Lacquers contain agents that protect wood from UV rays, but natural wood is prone to substantial discoloration over time when exposed to sun.
